Half Distance Triathlon
Our main event, comprising a 1.9k swim, 90k bike ride and 21.1k run;
The 2 lap swim takes place at the beautiful Rossio dos Olivais, next to the famous Lisbon Oceanarium, on calm waters.
The 4 lap bike course takes the athletes out of Parque das Nações and into the IC22 freeway, which will be completely closed to traffic. With ample space for everyone and the Tagus river as a backdrop, this is a mostly flat course, with a small hill climb just before turning around and heading back into town.
The 4 lap run is completely flat and alongside the Tagus river, with both paved and off-road sections.
Battle of The Sexes
1.5k swim, 45k bike, 10.5k run
In this unique format men and women will be competing directly against each other. When the gun goes off, only the women get underway, with the men starting a few minutes later. Whoever gets to the finish line first will be the winner of both the race and of a cash prize (to be announced).
The time difference between the women’s and the men’s start for 2017 will be 16’15”, which is what the time difference between the male and female winners of the 2016 Rio Olympic Games was, plus an additional 5 minutes.
The bike will be a 2 lap course, and drafting is not allowed.
The run will be a 2 lap course.
